I often wonder what my ancestors in Prussia or Ireland would have thought of the breadmaker. I've converted a lot of the recipes from the Mennonite cookbook to use in my breadmaker. I watch my mom still do it all by hand and hers always tastes so much better, but I as you all know am lazy.
So my Residents love that I make our vrrad. It's usually gone the day I make it and they fight over who gets the top piece. Well we have a ton of burgers and hot dogs and I forgot to buy buns, so guess what recipe I'm using this week! I will add a picture when I get them made.
Hamburger buns
1 c water
2 T oil
1 egg
3 1/4 c flour
1/4 c sugar
1 t salt
3 t yeast
Place all dough ingredients in bread pan in order listed. Select dough setting on bread maker. When cycle is complete(2 hours), grease a cookie sheet. Divide dough into 12 balls and form into hamburger buns. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Brush with melted butter or margarine. Cover and raise 30 minutes or until doubled. Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.
Just reshape into hot dog buns if that's what you need!
