Bath Salts

Here at the Asylum I like to sneak in and brew up things other than food. I've been told I must have been a witch in a past life, and I tell them it's close. I grew up with people who taught you how to use what you had or could trade for. There are a lot more ways we are a like in this world than different.

As always the credits are at the bottom and we encourage you to go see them and tell them you were sent by the Asylum!

Bath Salts

Ingredients

3 cups of sea salt or kosher salt
5 cups of epsom salt
1 cup of baking soda
gel food coloring
essential oils
Instructions

Combine sea salt or kosher salt, epsom salt, and baking soda.
Add desired amount of essential oils.
To color bath salts, combine gel food coloring with a splash of water and whisk until combined.
Spread colored bath salts out in a single layer and let air dry before storing.
Sprinkle desired amount of bath salts into a tub filling with hot water and enjoy!

Sweet and Salty Coconut

I found bags of coconut on the clearance rack at my grocery store. They don't expire until May, but I'm guessing they over stocked for the holidays. I got them for $0.69 each!  So I went to Pinterest and I found several versions of this recipe and it looked so yummy and will be great over the baked apples and ice cream too!
Coconut has so many health benefits!
Sweet and Salty Coconut
1/2 c coconut oil
1 bag coconut flakes
1 tsp sea salt or less if you'd like
Preheat oven to 300 and move your rack to the highest position.
Melt your coconut oil in a glass pan in the oven, or be lazy like me and put the jar in the microwave.
Mix all ingredients, using your hands as the oil is great for your hands and cuticles!
Place in a glass cake pan or baking dish. Bake for 8-15 minutes stirring every three to keep it from burning and to toast all of the coconut! The more it is spread out the less time it will take. So if you want to move faster use a cookie sheet, but watch it carefully so you don't burn it!
Put on paper towels to cool.
Throw it in your oatmeal, eat it plain, add to trail mix, whatever just eat it and love yourself!
