Sausage Crescent Cheese Balls

Happy Tuesday!  Sunday's Superbowl held no love for any of the residents at my Asylum so I didn't have a big to do.  No full spread of any kind, unusual.  Anyway we did enjoy Chicken Wings and some Sausage Crescent Cheese Balls.  And let me tell you I gave myself a stomach ache.  Ate way too much.  The recipe calls for spicy sausage but I prefer a more mild sausage.  The flour it calls for is very important because you are unrolling the crescent dough, flattening it out on say a large cutting board, then using a pizza cutter (or knife) cutting it into small squares so it is easy to distribute through the sausage and cheese mixture.  This is an important part of the recipe. I promise you will score with this one!  See you Thursday!

Sausage Crescent Cheese Balls
Ingredients

1lb bulk spicy sausage
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz)
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves, crushed
1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Heat oven to 375°F. Line 15x10x1-inch pan with foil; spray with cooking spray.
In large bowl, mix sausage, cheese and rosemary; mix well using hands or spoon.Unroll crescent dough on work surface; coat each side of dough with 1 tablespoon flour. Using pizza cutter or knife, cut dough into about 1/4-inch pieces. Mix crescent dough pieces into bowl of sausage mixture in small amounts until well blended.

Shape mixture into 42 (1 1/4-inch) balls. Place in pan. Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until golden brown.

Apple Pie Dumplings

Ugh, don't even get me started on what kind of week this has turned out to be.  Looking for a 300% increase in today compared to yesterday! He's just a quick not to go with this quick recipe.  I think you could probably use any flavored pie filling for this and it would turn out great.  I personally had a jar of spiced apples from Cracker Barrel so I used them instead of purchasing more.  They were great.  Let us know if you decide to use something different.  Take a risk!  Thanx for stopping by.  Hoping all our weekends are awesome!  See you Saturday.

Apple Pie Dumplings

This delicious dessert takes only about 4 minutes to prepare and two ingredients! It doesn't get easier than that!

Ingredients

1 (21 oz) can of Apple Pie Filling
1 roll crescent rolls
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Open crescent rolls and cut into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.

Stir Apple Pie Filling and crescent rolls together to coat the crescents with the sauce.
Pour into a 2 qt casserole dish, ensuring the crescent pieces are on top of the pie filling.
Bake 20-25 minutes or until crescents are completely cooked (baking time on this recipe may vary). Serve warm with ice cream.

Saucy's Apple Pie Crescents

We had a problem with Saucy's post-Crazy right, why would something be weird here?   So here is her recipe!
Found this on the Pillsbury website and made them, mmmmmmmm.  I sliced my apple a lot more and very thin.  A few still had crunch to them so I'm thinking thicker ones will definitely not get soft.  They are very delicious and simple though.  Hope they turn out well for you!  I will definitely keep this around for pop up guests!  Happy Thursday all, hope you week ends on a wonderful note!  Thanx for stopping by, see you on Saturday!  Also, I used the butter crescents.  Be sure to remember though it is very important for this dough to stay cold so keep in the refrigerator until needed. :)

Apple Pie Crescents

Ingredient
1 small Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, cut into 8 (1/2-inch) slices
3  tablespoons butter, melted

1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

1/3  cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon apple pie spice

1 Heat oven to 375°F. Line cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper. Set aside.
2 In small bowl, toss apple slices in melted butter; set aside. Separate dough into 8 triangles.
3 In small bowl, mix brown sugar and apple pie spice. Divide mixture evenly among triangles. Top each triangle with apple slice. Starting at short side of each triangle, wrap dough around apple. Place on cookie sheet. Brush with remaining butter.
4 Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until crescents are deep golden brown and apples are softened. Cool 5 minutes before serving.

Help! Cupboards are empty!!!

Reader Question answered at the bottom!!

My house doesn't look like the Little Old Lady who went to her empty cupboard and found her dog a bone! But....it is pretty dang close! I love to use up everything before going to buy groceries. There is a slight problem-company! I have company coming this weekend! I know we will have one meal out for sure, or delivered, but what do I do for the rest?

Has this ever happened to any of you?  Well I messaged The Suacy Irish and she said "we will figure it out"! Then she said "yeesh you may need to buy groceries"!

So I am going to limp through the week and go buy groceries when it isn't Blizzarding outside!

Today I thought I would share some cupboard recipes. You know those kitchen sink type recipes?

First what about crescent rolls, hot dogs and cheese?
Cut the hot dog in half or roll up the whole thing. Bake for 11-15 minutes. You can throw a slice of cheese in or not (if you have it). Kids can dip them in ketchup!

Mini corn dogs?
Mix up some cornbread (box or scratch) pour it into paper lined muffin tins. Cut up hot dogs and put pieces in the middle of the muffin tins. Bake according to cornbread recipe and add another 5 min. Great side to chili too!

Which leads me to the next one-chili!
My hubs won't eat beans. But chili is an easy one to throw the ingredients in the crock pot! Everyone has their favorite recipe and mine I horrible, so I won't torture you with it! I have to use the deer meat in something!

Veggie Spaghetti!
If you have bags of steamed veggie with a sauce on it, mix it into spaghetti.

Got some burger thawed?
Meatballs for spaghetti
Tacos
Meatball subs
Saucy Irish told me to brown up the burger with onion and Worcestershire sauce and throw in with cooked Mac n cheese!

Mac n Cheese doesn't need to come from a box! Got a chunk of cheese and some noodles? You got Mac n cheese, chemical free!

Now last nights supper!  My hubs favorite!
Salmon patties with egg noodles. I always have 2-4 cans of salmon in my cupboard.  Hubs likes noodles tossed with butter, salt and pepper.  I like a little lemon on mine! Just pick out the bones, add an egg or two, some saltines crushed up or bread crumbs. Make patties and throw in a pan or the oven.

Let us know what you do when the budget is tight or your lazy like me and hate grocery shopping, or both!

Reader Question! We had a reader (I suspect it was my mother) leave a question for us on yesterday's blog. His/Her question was about a jar of minced garlic she found in her fridge and if it was safe.

You might be surprised to fin that in the US only baby food and formula are required to have an expiration/sell by date. Those dates are for the grocers to know when to switch out products.

That being said I did some searching and minced garlic can be left in the fridge for up to a year (if this is my mom, it's been a year toss it!), the sniff test also works. Our Reader said it still smelled like garlic. Try stirring or shaking the contents and smell again. Still smell good?  Then should be ok!

Check out canitgobad.net for more information!

Have a great day crazies! I have to go figure out tonight's supper!
