Oatmeal

This is a great way to save money as well as keep your Residents fed! When trying a new flavor on the little Residents make a small batch. I tried pumpkin spice once and I was the only one that would eat it!

I have large containers with lids that I found at the dollar store. I plan to buy some measuring cups next time I am there so I can just throw one in and leave it!

This comes from a site called mommyskitchen.net

Homemade Instant Oatmeal Mix

1 - 18oz container quick cooking oats
1/3 - cup dry powdered milk
1/2 - cup packed brown sugar
1 - 2 tsp cinnamon
1 - cup raisins or dried fruits

Mix all of the ingredients together and store in a airtight container. Label the contianer with the directions on how to prepare the oatmeal. Yields 16 servings

To prepare oatmeal: scoop 1/2 cup oatmeal into a bowl and mix with 1/2 cup water. You may need a bit more water if you like you oatmeal thinner. Microwave on high for 1 minute stir and enjoy.

Littlehouseliving.com also has a basic mix and I HIGHLY suggest going to her site as she has some great add ins for recipes!

Basic oatmeal recipe is quite simple;
1/2 cup milk + 1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup old fashioned oats is how to make perfect oatmeal!

Add coffee creamer as flavoring!
