Baked Ham and Cheese Sandwhiches

Welcome back to the Asylum!  Did you enjoy your Sunday pass?  We hung out here at home and I worked on pallet signs (well, I recruited help).  Hubs and the kids worked in the shop.  They are starting to paint the motorcycle they have been turning into a cafĂ© bike.

I think Mother Nature needs to join our Asylum.  It was in the upper 80s last week and this week it is rainy and as I type this it is currently 48, the week before it snowed!  So we are breaking out the slippers and hoodies.  I washed the blankets over the weekend and every chair or couch has a blanket to cuddle up in!  We have a large house that is mostly a big open space.  So keeping it at a high temperature would break the budget.  All I know is I get to have cute slippers!  You should ask Saucy Irish about her Fluffy (Puffy) Little Shoes!

So I was trying to think of something that would be warm to eat and quick and easy.  Then I remembered these little gems a friend had told me about!  They will go great with soup for a complete meal!  I would recommend my Hawaiian Sweet Roll recipe for your bread!

My hubs has always done something similar with ham, cheese and bread slices.  He throws it in the microwave just long enough to melt the cheese.

Baked Ham and Cheese Party Sandwiches
allrecipes.com
Ingredients:
3/4 cup melted butter
1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
24 mini sandwich rolls
1 pound thinly sliced cooked deli ham
1 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese
Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2.In a bowl, mix together butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried onion. Separate the tops from bottoms of the rolls, and place the bottom pieces into the prepared baking dish. Layer about half the ham onto the rolls. Arrange the Swiss cheese over the ham, and top with remaining ham slices in a layer. Place the tops of the rolls onto the sandwiches. Pour the mustard mixture evenly over the rolls.
3.Bake in the preheated oven until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes. Slice into individual rolls through the ham and cheese layers to serve.

Note: We would replace the cheese with American or Pepper Jack at our Asylum!

Oktoberfest is approaching so make sure you get your orange  or black "jackets" for the occasion!
