4th of July

For my kiddos and I the 4th ranks 3rd in our favorite holidays. My hubs not so much. Today I would like to thank all those soldiers who spent time listening to gun shots ring in their ears and are reminded of it every time a firework is lit. We try to find other ways to keep him busy as well as letting him control the fireworks.

This year we are having our family neighbors (they are our neighbors but have become family) come over and BBQ with us! We are very excited about this! I think the kids are just excited for the Butter Beers!

I was trying to think of something simple the little residents could make and be red white and blue.  So I started with fruit, well of course watermelon is red, blue blueberries, but white? I don't want to use bananas as warm as it is suppose to be, not everyone likes coconut.  So whip cream it is!

Watermelon
Blueberries
Whip cream
Cookie cutter (star, flag, Uncle Sam hat or a Dino who cares)

Cut out watermelon shapes, spray a dollop of whip cream in the middle and plop on a blueberry or three!  How much easier could it get! You will have to assist in slicing the watermelon so they can make the shapes! No littles and knives, PLEASE!

Also provide wipes or another way for hands to be washed if you are outside! This would be a great light dessert to take out with you while you watch the fireworks and drink Butter Beers!

Sparkler tip for little residents! Punch a hole in the bottom of a solo cup (doesn't have to be red). Put the littles hand up inside the cup and put the handle of the sparkler through the bottom! Their little hands are protected and they can still draw their names!
