Stolen Recipe Remix

So if you've been around for awhile you may remember the Stolen Recipe blog. When I went to visit The Saucy Irish she made that dish in her own version for me. I was hooked and hoped my Asylum Residents would like it too. Lucky for me...they did!

Well fast forward a few years and now my Residents are making suggestions on ways to cage it and they are learning how to make it!  They came up with this version while they were helping me grocery shop!

I highly recommend taking your kids shopping. Make them aware of your budget and brands. They tend to complain less and not ask for things you can't afford when the understand what it means to have a budget!

So here is the version my Residents came up with and it had rave reviews at the table last night!

Cheesy noodle mix (yeah they named it)

4-8 cheddar pork brats (we figure 2 per person for left overs)
Ragu Four Cheese sauce
1 can diced tomatoes, don't drain
1/2 onion (yellow or white)
Green or red peppers (optional)
Salt and paper to taste
1 box noodles (they used bow tie)

Slice the brats and fry/cook them. They will create their own liquid. I put a lid on and let them cook turning every few minites.

Meanwhile, make your noodles according to the package.

Add onions and tomatoes to brats when they have finished cooking. Then add sauce, mix well and let simmer until your noodles are finished.

When your noodles are cooked, strain them, rinse them with cold water. That stops the cooking process. They won't become mushy that way!

You can do the next step two ways.

Place the noodles in with the brat mixture and combine. OR Serve the needles and top with brat mixture.

Have a cheesy time with your Residents!
